Layouts with Templates

Today I have a bunch of layouts to share using some fabulous templates by Crystal Livesay. She's a designer over at Pixels & Co and her templates are really fun to work with.

This first page is filled with all the colors & paterns I am loving right now ... soft pinks & greens with pops of color and a bit of black ... and for the patterns ... watercolor, dots, chevrons and florals. So pretty.

The next layout is from our extended family summer vacation spent on Lake Ontario ... it's a picture of my daughter, nephew and SIL enjoying our day out on the boat. It's amazing how being out on the water can erase all your stress and worries ... could use a little of that right now.

This layout expresses my love-hate relationship with Fall. The mum photo is from our weekend's day trip to the Apple Orchard. This layout came together quickly using Crystal's template and just one kit, Wonderfall, by Creashens.

All three layouts were done is short amount of time ... that is the beauty of using well designed templates. Love that! 

And I have just one more layout to share today. These photos were taken in poor lighting with my iphone while my (too old to be riding tricycles) kids were goofing off in the department store & zooming up and down the aisles. But the memory was too good to not use the photos just bc they weren't perfect, so I scrapped them anyway. I used an adorable kit by Dani Mogstad to liven up the page and really accent the colors in the Instagram photos.

Memory Keeping Monday ... a little late!

Happy Monday evening! Today I spent the day with the kids getting organized for school. School ... not a word they are happy to hear. While so many of you are already sharing "first day of school pictures" on social media, we are still enjoying 2 more weeks of summer vacation & freedom from the back to school routine.

But today it was time to do a little preparation for the big day in September. It will be here before we know it, like it or not!

We have an old armoire that we use as command central for school supplies and project related storage. It had not been cleaned or organized in at least 9 months! So we tackled it today and found more pencils and loose leaf paper than Staples. OK, maybe not that much paper, but still, there was so much, I had to devote a whole shelf just to loose leaf.

This made it easy to see what was needed and what was not. Then we set out to buy the remainder of the items on the school supply list. I'm happy to report, one store ... and we are done. Except for the 18 boxes of tissues that my two kids need to bring in. No comment. 

After our school supply shopping & organizing of the armoire, I treated to the kids to ice cream cones  ... all was good, and the big bad word ... school ... was soon forgotten again. Happy to report, we are back in summer vacation mode for two more weeks.

Memory Keeping Monday

Hello! It's Christmas Eve! Merry Christmas to all. Hope everyone is enjoying the last few days of 2012 with family and friends ... eating, relaxing, storytelling, laughing and making memories!

Somehow I missed posting this layout 2 weeks ago. Not sure how that happened. It's Crate Paper's On Trend Collection and was just so perfect for what was going on in life at that moment, which was my daughter's room re-do. With black, turquoise, zebra prints and peacock feathers ... this kit was made to match the photos I had been taking that week, to document my girl getting a new room. Can't wait to go back to this kit, once the room is painted and fully redecorated. Honestly, I could see this kit being used for so many layouts ... it's so fun and girly!

Happy Monday everyone.

Today the kids are home from school in observance of Veteran's Day, which officially was yesterday. Thank you to all who have given, and continue to give so much for our country ... my Dad, and so many of his family members were in wars ... special love to you Dad.

So the kids are getting much needed downtime from school/homework/activities ... just being kids & hanging out with their friends, running around outside. It is so, so beautiful today!

And I have 2 pages that are also Project Life style (I say style ...  because they are not really true Project Life layouts where I documented 7 photos of the week, but rather this was all taken on the same day ... a special family tradition event ... apple picking that we day every year with the Grandparents.) That's the beauty of Project Life, easy, but can be anything you want it to be. No rules!

I just love how easy it is to add photos, cute elements and the journal cards, to get a lot of photos and story telling quickly onto the pages! Making these style pages is just addicting!

Memory Keeping Monday

Hello. Today I'm sharing some lovely digital scrapbook layouts using some of the hot, new products from the talented designers over at jessicasprague.com.

Dani's Just Stay Little kit immediately made me seek out a photo of my children taken at a local orchard during Pumpkin Picking Season. This photo is so near and dear to me. It was taken over 7 years ago, when my Two were just wee little things. They weren't afraid to kiss, and hug, and show their love for each other. (Note: If you have wee little ones that do this type of mushy, lovey-dove stuff on a regular basis, cherish this moment in time ... it doesn't last forever; at least not in my house). My Two are in middle school now ... and hugging and kissing just does not happen.

TIP:  My son was actually wearing an orange shirt on this beautiful fall day. At the time I thought I was so clever putting my children in autumn hues like golden yellow and orange to match the scenery. Fast forward 7 years, and here I am trying to match this photo, not to an autumn layout, but to a layout that is so much more meaningful; remembering yesterday and the way they were at that very moment in time. Sooooooo ....  to help the color scheme of the page come together, I tweaked it to a red tone to coordinate with the digital kit. Come back to the blog later this week and I'll walk you through how I did that quick shirt color change in Photoshop.

Next up is a scrapbook page using photos that were taken on day trip to a small local zoo that rescues animals when the big zoos do not have a use for them anymore. :( We love to come here to help support these animals as they live out the remainder of their lives. They are all beautiful creatures. This layout is a grid layout, but without the typical square or rectangle as the dominant shape. I like to change things up a bit ... and this is what I ended up with.

And last up is a digital desktop calendar for 2013 made using Lori Whitlock's 2013 Calendar templates. I just expanded the size a bit and added some customizations. I saved my layout as a PSD file in Photoshop and now I can quickly go in and change my photos on the desktop calendar to match my mood, the seasons or a paticular holiday. Easy Peasy. And I feel so ahead of the game!

One Little Slip ... The Story Ends {on a happy note!}

So yesterday was the one year anniversary of my son's fall from a rope swing. That one little slip, left him pretty banged up (you can read last year's story here: http://prettyinposies.blogspot.com/2011/10/one-little-slip.html) ... 3 trips to the OR, 8 weeks of missing school, numerous x-rays & Dr. visits, a CT scan, radial nerve palsy, a dynamic splint, an arm brace, and 5 months of PT/OT ... and we can report that all is well!

I've finished documenting the big moments in this year long journey on this two-page digital layout. It matches the first two-page spread, with some new papers and elements thrown in from Pink Paislee and Dani Mogstad. (The first LO below is the one I did in Oct 2011.)

We had our last Dr. visit yesterday. While the Dr. sent us off with a clean bill of health, we presented the Dr. with a framed digital layout showing how far K has come & all the things he can do now, despite his injury.  The Dr. was thrilled was his recovery and pleased to receive this gift. He had his partner come in to take photos, and of course I snapped a few myself! 

Such a great ending! Here is the layout we did for the Dr.

The little "doctor" related elements were created by me, using clip art from the internet. They looked "finished" after popping them into Anna's adorable wood frames.
