Friday Layouts

So glad it's Friday. The kids have Monday off from school ... so it's a 3 day weekend for us! Woo - Hoo. Really hoping to spend a decent amount of time outdoors ... the leaves are starting to glow with the colors of autumn and the Hudson Valley is looking gorgeous. I want to enjoy it before it is gone.

The photos, in the layouts below, were taken at the end of September at a local Apple Orchard. We still have way too many apples left to warrant a trip back there, but I'd love to get out and go for a hike or day trip somewhere scenic.

Memory Keeping Monday ... It's finally April

Why am I so excited it's April? Because April means there's the real hope of Spring-like weather.

March was a washout ... cold, snowy, overcast and generally all-around yucky! April has to be better ... warmer, sunnier and please, please ... no snow. I'm in desperate need of fresh air and sunshine ... because I don't like to be outside when it's cold, and it's been cold for far too long. In fact we are putting the outdoor furniture OUTSIDE this weekend, regardless of whether it is warm or not. It's time!

April is also my birthday month, although I'm never really all that excited about aging another year. In fact, I've been telling everyone I'm like a year or two older than I really am, because, honestly ... I just forget how old I am and can't be bothered to do the math (my least favorite subject always!).

And April means the start of the outdoor soccer season again. 5 months of indoor soccer makes me cranky.

So bring on April ... and bring on the sunshine! I think this Layout with American Craft's latest digital release Hello Sunshine sums things up nicely!

Memory Keeping Monday

Writing to you from my snuggly warm spot on the sofa, near the fireplace, with wooly blanket on my lap. Sounds crazy, since we are on Spring Break this week & Spring "officially" arrived 6 days ago. You wouldn't know it though, because we're expecting another snow storm later today ... numerous outdoor soccer events had to be cancelled this past weekend and again for this evening, and it pretty much snows at least every other day around here. Oh well, not much we can do to control Mother Nature ... hoping she is kind to us this summer and rewards us with lovely weather.

It's been a few weeks since I sat down to create ... today I have two to share with you. Both can be found at AC Digitals, on sale this week.

Memory Keeping Monday

I have two layouts to share on this Memory Keeping Monday ...

The first layout is a bit of a blast from the past ... an older photo of my kiddos when they were wee little ones, sharing a hug while the sun set upon the ocean of Carmel CA. My daughter had on a swimsuit with purples, pinks and blues and my son's suit was Spiderman blue and red. The colors of the photo did not match this pretty XOXO collection by American Crafts, so I turned the photo B&W. But I knew I wanted to keep a bit of that lovely sunny glow ... so you see that peeking out from behind the shrubs, giving the photo & LO warmth and zones in on the notion of love portrayed by the sweet hug they are sharing. I love the unexpected watercolor elements mixed in with this kit. Caught my eye right away!

This next scrapbook page, features Pebbles's With Love collection. Love and Valentine's Day kits can be used for so much more than the traditional "love" layouts. Even red and pink kits can be incorporated for use with boys or men's pages. Here, my son is helping me make homemade mac-n-cheese. His interest in cooking and food preparation continues to grow each year.  While he "loves" helping out in the kitchen, I "love" the fact that someday, when he is out on his own, he will be able to cook himself something more than pasta and jarred tomato sauce. This kit has so many charming elements ... I really love the "cut-out" tags.

Memory Keeping Monday

We enjoyed our Martin Luther Day holiday. The girl spent the day at the local Ice Arena for a birthday party and I brought the boy and a friend along to the public skate session that was running at the same time. Spent the evening getting organized for the school week and trying to get ahead on some projects that are due soon. Love feeling like I am ahead of the game, especially when it comes to the kids' school work.

Finally getting a moment to sit down with my computer and post this week's Memory Keeping Monday.

Memory Keeping Monday

So, this past week,  we had 3 work/school days after the looooong winter break ... and we made it through. I always find winter break to be the toughest in terms of getting back into the swing of reality. But it being a fresh new year, somehow, helps mentally. Whether or not you are the type to commit to resolutions or simply decide that you will put together a list of fresh new goals for yourself, it can be an exciting, promising and renewing time of year.

I have my set of goals (because I'm better at making lists than I am at keeping resolutions) brewing and am excited about the things I want to accomplish and the changes I know I need to make for 2013. Hoping to share them as the brew settles down to more of a simmer. Right now the goal brew is kind of boiling over.

Hoping you have things, changes, goals that you are excited to make happen in 2013 as well.

Somehow I missed posting this layout 2 weeks ago. Not sure how that happened. It's Crate Paper's On Trend Collection and was just so perfect for what was going on in life at that moment, which was my daughter's room re-do. With black, turquoise, zebra prints and peacock feathers ... this kit was made to match the photos I had been taking that week, to document my girl getting a new room. Can't wait to go back to this kit, once the room is painted and fully redecorated. Honestly, I could see this kit being used for so many layouts ... it's so fun and girly!
