Got Wool?

I have been tremendously busy keeping up with my website and Etsy shop this holiday season. It has been quite the hustle and bustle. Despite the recession, this was definitely my busiest month and and a half to date. Thank you to all my lovely, wonderful customers for your support!

The last few days have slown down and I've had a chance to work on designing new products and making more of my new super chunky Fulled Wool Brooches. They are made with wool remnants that have been felted (fulled) for a super fluffy and soft texture and each color is somewhat limited. So if you see something you like snatch it up! These are 5" wide and are very 3-dimensional pieces. They look amazing on a winter coat or scarf or jacket!

This one in black and putty wool is super sophisticated and literally will match with nearly anything in your wadrobe. It's like the staple "little black dress" of brooches, only super-sized! I sold a few already and have found a bit more of the putty wool, so I'll be making another one or two of these very soon.

This wool brooch is a classic in herringbone wool of red and cream, black and cream and then a deep black. I have one that I keep for myself in this color combination, as I wear these colors a lot in the winter. So as of right now, I just have one extra brooch available to list on Etsy because this wool in these colors is so limited in my stash. But I will be listing a few hair clips to match...as it only requires tiny pieces to make the hair accessories.

This one in Charcoal Peacock is loaded with turquoise, teal and charcoal grey wool. Gorgeous colors to brighten up any winter day. I have a matching hair accessory for this piece as well.

These Wool Slip Covers - Flower Trail are my newest additions to my accessory line ... and I have been wearing one everyday since I created them. They are wool slip covers with a trail of flowers. The wool is felted (fulled) for that soft fluffy feeling and then a slip cover ( available in large size 2" or my new Xlarge size 2 1/4") is secured inside. I've gotten tons of compliments during the few days I've been wearing them! Fun, colorful and so different from any other hair clip out there!

Here's one more color option in the wool slipcover design:

I keep one of these for myself as well. Some of my favorite colors this season to wear with jeans, hence the splash of blue. Hope you enjoy them too! Happy to work with you on custom colors for the hair clips or brooches.

Early Bird Sale

It's been a long while since I had a Sale! So... I thought it would be fun to have an Early Bird Sale before the busy Thanksgiving shopping weekend. Starting now - through the weekend - make a dent in your Holiday Gift Giving with 25% off all regular priced items. Any item marked Sale is not inlcuded in the 25% off because it is already marked down. And if that's not enough to entice you ... throughout the weekend, I will be randomly marking down items as much as 50% off! These will be items listed in my shop and will come and go as the weekend progresses. These items (while marked down as Sale will not get an additional 25% because they will already be marked down super low!) So check my shop often this weekend ... and feel free to checkout as many times as you like and simply hold off on the paypal authorization until you've had a chance to purchase everything you would like throughout the weekend! Once you have everything all set, just contact me and let me know you are ready for a revised invoice. This will save you on shipping!
How it will work:
I will refund you the discount via paypal's refund system. Again, if you want to make multiple purchases throughout the weekend - hold off on the paypal authorization and just complete the checkout, you can then send me a note when you are completely finished with all of your shopping. I will then send you a revised invoice with the 25% off.
You can start shopping now! :)

Here are some new items in the shop:

Cute Sandwich Wrappers

So yesterday, I talked about lunches and eco-friendly sandwich wrappers. I wanted to share a few favorite shops on Etsy that make these good for the planet items.

This first one is made of linen, nice! And is the baggie style. This one is pretty enough for adults. Made by countrylifenaturals on Etsy. Check out her shop for lunch gift sets. They would be awesome for teacher gifts!

These are adorable for the kids' lunches. Made by Little Green Pea. Check out all the pretty fabrics she offers! Cute for stocking stuffers. Have your kids count how many plastic bags they've saved by using these sandwich bags!

Evelyn Fields makes really sweet baggies as well. Here is a set complete with two different sized baggies (one for your sandwich & one for your snack) and an unpaper napkin. She also has a DIY pattern in her shop for those of you feeling a little crafty.

A fun sock monkey sandwich wrapper. This style opens up to lie completely flat and makes a nice surface for your child to eat his/her sandwich from. Lots of fun styles and fabrics in Cotton Top Quilts' shop. Makes eating lunch fun.

Good Things for School Lunches

One of my goals for the school year was to get my kids off sugary peanut butters and jellies. Done right, the classic PB&J sandwich can be a totally healthy lunch packed with good fiber, grains and much needed protein. Doing it right means choosing a natural peanut butter that contains only peanuts (ok...a little salt too) and picking a jelly or jam with no added sugars or artificial sweetners. Such fruit spreads are really sweet enough as is. Put those two ingredients together between slices of whole grain bread made with all natural ingredients and your kids have a healthy little sandwich. My kids actually like the natural peanut butter better and proud that they are choosing a healthier lunch. We stress variety in our weekly meals, so PB& Js are only allowed once or twice a week. I save them for the days I run out of deli meat!

We also use lunch wrappers that can be cleaned and reused each day, rather than wasting plastic baggies that end up in the garbage dumps.

You have to admit these little wraps are so much cuter than ziplocs! Yay for Good Things!

Autumn on the Hudson

Sunday was a gorgeous day. Our daughter had a soccer game. It felt so good to be out in the sunshine on such a crisp autumn day, especially when your not sure how many more days like that you are going to be granted before even the birds are heading for the south. We decided to go to lunch and then head down to West Point to see the girl's soccer game so we could be outside enjoying the sunshine and Emma would get to see how the college girls play the game. The fields are literally right on the Hudson river. And some of the mom's (of the players) were hilarious. Army ended up losing to Colgate. But it was a good game and an enjoyable afternoon.

Here is a view of the Hudson just steps from the soccer field. So pretty, except for the chain link fence.

A Gorgeous Etsy Treasury ...

Her treasury is still active as of this post, but won't be for long. Here's the link if you want to get a better peek: The Folding Field

A treasury goes FrontPage on Etsy

Not sure where you are from, but last week's weather here in the North East was crazy for few days. We had snow to the point that the kids went out with their sleds and it was really unseasonably cold. On Sunday my daughter had an afternoon soccer game in the freezing cold rain ... and we got back home I was looking to cuddle up near the fire with my wool blanket and my laptop. It had been a stressful week for so many reasons and I just needed some unwinding & relaxing. What better way to spend some time, than window shop on Etsy and make some pretty treasuries. It had been awhile since I had time to make treasuries, but this list made in the Etsy Treasury West went front page this afternoon. Congrats to all the artists, the items were all gorgeous.

Wow, I didn't realize how long I've been absent from my blog. Spring is the time when we start to think about warm weather projects that need be done around the house and believe me, there are a lot. So between project planning and keeping up with my business ... there hasn't been much extra time for checking in with my blog.

I did want to highlight a few designs for Spring, which are starting to make their appearances in my various online shops. Here are some peeks at my newest felt pretties:

And don't forget: Sunday April 5th at 9pm is Artiste night over at HyenaCart. It's our first anniversary and there will be lots of great deals and steals as always. Do you like sales, steals and deals?

If you haven't stopped by Artiste on Hyena Cart - you should. It's another selling venue where I stock (along with a bunch of fabulous handmade artists) limited quantities of my products usually at really great prices! Sometimes it's clearance or sale items and sometimes it is something new that I will be offering at a discount.

The way it works is that items are usually previewed a few days in advance, so you can window shop and see if there is any thing you are interested in. Then at 9pm on the dot ... the items stocked go live for purchase. The items stay up until someone purchases them or until the next stocking date. We do this two times a month ... so stop in on the 5th and 25th of every month.

Hope to see you tomorrow night! And there's still time to enter my GIVEAWAY!!

Markdowns on Etsy and on my Website

hey there! for the first time in over a month, i can actually see the grass on the ground. not all the snow is melted, but if stays warm like this (meaning above 32 degrees =), all the snow may very well melt soon enough. i'm sure there's more snow and freezing cold temperatures in the future. it's only early febuary afterall. but for the meantime, i want to just relish in this feast of warm 40-degree, balmy weather.

the sight of the grass and the melting of the snow has me in a SALE kind of mood. as i begin working on some new designs this week, join my in my etsy shop or prettyinposies.com for a Clearing out the Old Sale.

also tune in on Wednesday when I'll be announcing a giveaway. i promise, you won't want to miss it! (hint, think yellow, sunshine and spring!)
